aims & spirit

Harmony Community Trust is a cross community organisation founded in 1975 to promote community relations and social inclusion. Its main base is a sixteen-acre wildlife area at Kilclief, close to the shores of Strangford Lough, from which it delivers community relations, social inclusion and respite programmes on a year round basis.

Harmony Community Trust realises its aim and embodies its core values through developing:

  • Effective community relations programmes achieving measurable outcomes based on sound assessment models.
  • Provision of respite care for children and young people on a year round basis.
  • Encouraging the use of the facilities for conferences, day visits, workshops, self-catering family groups and environmental workcamps.
  • A positive attitude to change by encouraging the development of new, exciting and innovative programmes.
  • Its ethos and service so that it will be valued by users and stakeholders for quality and results. .
  • Financial security as a sustainable organisation based on planned levels of service contracts, residential income, programme support and fund raising activities.
  • Ensuring the residential centre being used by wider range of people outside of programmes directly run by Glebe House staff.
  • A pool of motivated volunteers providing support for both programmes and one-off events.
  • Good corporate leadership with good team spirit and clear vision within and across the Council, volunteers and staff.
  • A strong staff team who are qualified, motivated, skilled and self-directed.
